Beats, Yo.

The first draft of this post was written as a gangster selling you drugs–only with music instead. It got too silly and offensive. These songs mean more to me than that. Have a listen.

Zach Condon (of Beirut) – “Venice”

If you like Beirut but felt they were a little too avante garde for you this solo work from Zach Condon will hit just the right spot.

Of Montreal – “Nonpareil of Favor”

Epic and intense. There are four contrasting movements in this opus. Don’t let the first one or two fool you…not for the faint of ear.

Jeffery Lewis – “Together We Form Jeff”

Anti-folk in all its glory. Jeff Lewis tapes himself twice, one over the other, being different sides of his personality. Charmingly homemade.

Diane Cluck – “Easy to be Around”

I’m just getting to know her, but she impresses me already. Having done a few duets with Jeff Lewis, she has automatic street cred.

Yeasayer – “Wait for the Summer”

Tribal and fun. These guys were my first concert in Milwaukee. Woot!
